Pyongwriter [평우랱텔] User Manual
20 Jul 2013
Introduction
We designed Pyongwriter as a writer tool for korean learner or korean practitioner with basic/origin of English and other Latin alphabethic countries - who accustomes to use QWERTY Latin keyboard.
So, sounds/jamos of Korean are arranged mostly in correspondence with QWERTY keyboard.
Non-Shift QWERT YUIOP =
Shifted QWERT YUIOP = 0
Non-Shift ASDFG HJKL; = ᅡᄉᄃᄄᄀ ᄒᄌᄏᄅ;
Shifted ASDFG HJKL; = 0
Non-Shift ZXCVB NM<>? =
Non-Shift ZXCVB NM<>? = 00000
All these we are into Pyongwriter keyboard buttons on the screen. For a new beginner in Korean, these buttons-keyboard will help them to familiarize with Korean jamos to build han/chosen-geul.
After they are familiar enough with jamos to build han/chosen-geul then they will not need anymore to stare at the buttons-keyboard to type han/chosen-geul. The user in this stage has a sound basic hangeul recognition
and they type han/chosen-geul faster by reading and typing 'on the fly'.
But remembering necessity for a new beginner in Korean to learn Han/Chosen-geul formation from jamos, our buttons-keyboard consist all initial jamos, medial jamos, and final jamos.
A han/chosen-geul is build using jamos with following patterns:
han/chosen-geul = initial jamos + medial jamos;
or
han/chosen-geul = initial jamos + medial jamos + final jamos;
These are initial jamos (consonants) : ᄀᄁᄂᄃᄄᄅᄆᄇᄈᄉᄊᄋᄌᄍᄎᄏᄐᄑᄒ
These are medial jamos (vowels) : ᅡᅢᅣᅤᅥᅦᅧᅨᅩᅪᅫᅬᅭᅮᅯᅰᅱᅲᅳᅴᅵ
These are final jamos (consonants - final) : ᆨᆩᆪᆫᆬᆭᆮᆯᆰᆱᆲᆳᆴᆵᆶᆷᆸᆹᆺᆻᆼᆽᆾᆿᇀᇁᇂ
So han/chosengeul 평 is build using initial-ᄑ + ᅧ + final-ᆼ
Next in this document we only use term Geul instead of han/chosengeul to simplify typing.
But remember hangeul and chosengeul is the same term to call writing system of korean.
Hangeul is used by Korean (South, ROKA) and chosengeul is used by Korean (North, DPRK).
In this document we simply use the term 'Geul'.

wi[i] is put on top-left of buttons-keyboard
wae is put on top-left
U = u
shift-u = weo
y based jamo, include i :
Y = ya
shift-Y=ye
Shift-I=yi[i]
yu,yo,yo,yae is put on top-right of buttons-keyboard
unique eu jamo:
eu is put into top-center of buttons-keyboard
MODE [평] SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT
As you type in MODE [평] (=MODE [Pyong]), Pyongwriter make it easy for you to build a Geul.
If you type a vowel at first of Geul making, then Pyongwriter will insert 'ᆼ' automatically before the vowel.
If you type in the 2nd stroke a consonants Pyongwriter will automatically convert initial jamo into double consonants
if 1nd and 2nd stroke consonants are part of a double-consonants jamo. So ᄇ + ᄇ = ᄈ
Vowel a [ᅡ] + e [ᅥ] becomes ae [ᅢ] automatically
Diftong ya will automatically change to ye,yae,yi,yo,yu,yeo
ye ᅨ = Y + E + E
yae ᅤ = Y (which give ya) + E
yi[i] ᅴ = Y + I + I
yo ᅭ = Y + O
yu ᅲ = Y + U
yeo ᅧ= Y + E + O
Example:
To form the Geul "myeon (=면)", you type
M(ᄆ)+ Y+E+O (ᅣ>ᅨ>ᅧ) + N(ᄂ). Here typing Y you-get Ya(ᅣ) then add typing +E make this change to Ye(ᅨ) then add typing +O make this change to Yeo(ᅧ).
Diftong eu + i will auto change to yi[i] = E + U + I
Diftong wa will auto change to we,wae,wii,weo -
we 웨 = W + E
wae 왜 = W + A + E
wii 위 = W + I + I
weo 워 = W + E + O
Vowel o + e/i will make 외 oe/oi.
Example:
(*=SPACE)
SA*[Q]Y*>saya SU*KA*>suka JJA*JAQ>Jja Jang M Yeo N > Myeon
